A reminder about our procedure in the event of snow
I think now is an appropriate time to remind us all of what our plans are in case we get a spell of snow. One of the main concerns on such an occasion is the safety of all concerned – children, parents and staff – and to this end it is sometimes difficult to make the right decision early enough in the day. Providing everything goes to plan we should have made our decision whether the School is open or not by 7.30 a.m. By that time we will have put a notice here on the homepage of the School’s website www.mostynhouse.co.uk if the School is closed and we will have the telephone manned and/or a message on the answer machine. We would hope that parents would be as brief as possible if they do telephone in. There will be no notice on the website if we are open as usual. We will always, of course, have staff available to look after children who live locally if they are not able to stay at home but if the School is officially closed we will only be here to look after them, not “educate” them! If when you telephone the school at or after 7.30 a.m. you find the answer phone on as normal this means the School is open.
If we have to decide to close the School early because snow starts to fall quite heavily during the day, then the buses will be sent home early, but only those children with whose parents we have made contact will be allowed to travel. If we have been unable to make contact we will keep the child at School for individual pick up. If any parents decide their own particular area is becoming unsuitable for travel and they wish therefore to pick up their child early then, of course, they will be very welcome to do so.
As always on such occasions, a supportive and co-operative attitude and a sense of humour will be appreciated!
